På Filosofiska institutionen arbetar ett sjuttiotal anställda och drygt 250 studenter, antingen inom den tidigaste akademiska disciplinen filosofi, eller inom en av de allra senast tillkomna, kognitionsvetenskap. Institutionens utbildningar har gott rykte och vår forskning håller hög klass, med internationellt erkända och på vissa områden ledande forskare.There are around 70 employees at the Department of Philosophy and just over 250 students, working either in the most ancient academic discipline of philosophy or in one of the most recent, cognitive science. En annan viktig del av institutionens forskning har biostatistisk inriktning.Research at the Department of Statistics is concentrated to areas involving applications in economics and social sciences. These include methods for sample surveys, analysis of election results, graph theory, multivariate analysis, time series analysis and demography.
