OBJECTIVES: Testicular germ-cell cancer (TGCC) patients are at risk of developing hypogonadism but no risk factors have yet been defined. METHODS: Blood was collected from 143 TGCC patients (after orchidectomy, prior to further therapy (T0) and 6, 12, 24, 36 and 60 months (T6, T12, T24, T36 and T60) after therapy). Biological hypogonadism (BH) was defined as: serum testosterone below 10 nmol/l and

Osteoarthritis is a multifactorial degenerative disease characterized by the breakdown of articular cartilage (AC), affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Among many treatment options, hydrogels have emerged as promising candidates for cartilage replacement, due to their structural resemblance to the native tissue. Hydrogels can be made from various materials, and this study focuses o

Background: Quantitative fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is widely used for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, with substantial variation in positivity thresholds across countries. This study examines how these thresholds affect FIT's diagnostic performance for detecting CRC and advanced precancerous lesions (APCL). Methods: We analyzed data from a single round screening of 7398 men and women aged

Background: As the survival rate of preterm infants continues to rise worldwide, more infants are at risk of developing sight-threatening retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Destructive retinal laser treatment and intravitreal injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), factor, which have potential systemic side effects, are necessary to prevent blindness in severe cases of ROP. Background: Reliable data on optimal fluid management in the perioperative period for patients with advanced ovarian cancer undergoing cytoreductive surgery is limited. These patients often present with malignant ascites and are prone to significant fluid shifts perioperatively. For this reason, our objective was to define clinical targets for optimal fluid balance and determine whether initial as

Introduction: Food systems strongly influence both human and planetary health. Unhealthy diets aremajor risk factors for chronic disease and mortality, while food production contributes substantially togreenhouse gas emissions (GHGE), and other negative environmental impacts. Adopting moresustainable dietary patterns, such as the EAT-Lancet diet, has been proposed as part of the solution, butuncer

Forest conservation has emerged as a key strategy to achieve global climate goals, yet many forest-rich countries remain underfunded. Cambodia, despite its extensive forest cover and high deforestation rates, accesses only a small portion of climate finance to support national mitigation efforts. Developing countries such as Cambodia access only a small share of the substantial annual for national

The denitrification process was studied in a stirred lab-scale suspended carrier biofilm reactor at low temperatures (3–20°C). The reactor was filled to 50% with Kaldnes K1 carriers. The denitrification rate showed only a rather weak dependence on the temperature, the rate at 3°C being approximately 55% of that at 15°C. The maximum denitrification rate obtained at 15°C was 2.7 g NOx−-N m−2 carrier
