Externally Employed Doctoral Student Agreement TEMPLATE - 2024-02-15

Uppdragsavtal PAGE 5(5) This template regulates the conditions for the employment of an externally employed doctoral student. If there is to be a collaboration project between LU and the Company, this is to be regulated in a separate collaboration agreement. Agreement on Financing of Externally Employed Doctoral Students Between Lund University , Department of …….. , hereafter referred to as LU, a

2024 Poster Sustainability And Risks Course (002)

Sustainability in the light of risk (7.5 ETCS) In the last years, it is evident that local and global risks have materialized into adverse events with severe conse- quences for our society. Communities, businesses, au- thorities, and people in Sweden, Europe, and worldwide are affected by and need to handle the consequences of various events such as food crises, disturbances in global logistics, p

On the H2 optimal control of uniformly damped mass-spring networks

In this paper we provide an analytical solution to an H2 optimal control problem, that applies whenever the process corresponds to a uniformly damped network of masses and springs. The solution covers both stable and unstable systems, and illustrates analytically how damping affects the levels of achievable performance. Furthermore, the resulting optimal controllers can be synthesised using passiv

III-V MOSFETs for RF Applications

Integration of high-quality oxides on III-V materials allows for versatile design of electronic devices, suitable for RF and power applications. We here present an overview of our results of planar and non-planar III-V MOSFETs for RF electronics, highlighting possibilities and challenges.

VIRTUAL PRESSURE SENSOR BASED ON ION CURRENT MEASUREMENTS USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS

In-cylinder pressure measurements serve as the gold standard for combustion diagnostics in Internal Combustion Engines. However, the associated costs render it unfeasible to equip engines with in-cylinder pressure sensors. For spark-ignited engines, using the more affordable in-cylinder ion current measurements as an alternative to the traditional pressure sensors has shown promising results for c

Possible effects of new Swedish ventilation regulations for residential buildings

In March 2023, the Swedish national Board of Housing, Building and Planning (Boverket) published a proposal for new ventilation rates in Sweden. The supply air should by this be calculated based on an equation using the heated floor area as the main input. It is set as optional to use less ventilation flow if this could be sufficient. However, in a questionnaire to Swedish practitioners within the

Automatic Control of a Wheelchair Using a Brain Computer Interface and Real-Time Decision-Making

In this study, we simulate the automatic control of an electric wheelchair for indoor Pac-Man-style navigation using solely thought commands. We delve into the decision-making mechanisms of an operational EEG-based brain computer interface that employs a visual oddball paradigm. We investigate strategies to enhance the efficiency of decision-making processes, aiming to accelerate response times wh

Resolving fast Wingbeat Flashes in situ with Entomological Lidar

Specular flashes from insect wings are useful for remote diversity assessment, yet their duration limits and constraining factors remain unknown. We studied this using sampling rates in entomological lidar system up to 40 kHz, resolving quick wing flashes down to 130μs duration from 40 m.

Threshold Saturation for Quantitative Group Testing with Low-Density Parity-Check Codes

We recently proposed a quantitative group testing (GT) scheme with low-complexity peeling decoding based on low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. Based on finite length simulations and a density evolution analysis we were able to demonstrate that simple (dv,dc)-regular LDPC codes can be more efficient for GT than existing generalized LDPC (GLDPC) code constructions based on BCH component codes. E

Quality Requirements for Code : On the Untapped Potential in Maintainability Specifications

Quality requirements are critical for successful software engineering, with maintainability being a key internal quality. Despite significant attention in software metrics research, maintainability has attracted surprisingly little focus in the Requirements Engineering (RE) community. This position paper proposes a synergistic approach, combining code-oriented research with RE expertise, to create

Core Loss Tracking of Stator Core Testing via Inverse Jiles-Atherton Hysteresis Model

This paper presents a novel optimization strategy for fitting the Jiles-Atherton (JA) hysteresis model to experimental stator yoke core loss measurements and locked-rotor IPMSM calculations. The first study aims to identify a single set of JA model parameters that track sample core losses at different magnetization levels at a given frequency: the analytical model is compared with finite element m

Yael Bartana: Utopia Now! : 25.05.2024 - 24.11.2024

Since the beginning of the 2000s, Yael Bartana has investigated themes as national identity and religious tradition, collective traumas and the yearning for redemption, patriarchal power structures and promises of salvation. While the point of departure engages with the present, her oeuvre questions and proposes thoughts on how we can live together in a future that defies the shared burden of our

Yael Bartana: Two Minutes To Midnight : 5 September, 2024 -20 October, 2024

What if Women Ruled the World? Yael Bartana stages this question in her performative piece Two Minutes to Midnight. The all-female government of a fictional nation is tasked with addressing an imminent nuclear threat posed by a foreign power. A panel composed of actresses and real-life experts in defense, law, politics, and psychology gathers in a democratic “peace room.” This space reflects the t
