Patients with heart valve prosthesis (HVP) and Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB) are at risk for endocarditis. In this retrospective, population-based cohort study of 134 patients with SAB and HVP, 97 patients (72%) were diagnosed with possible endocarditis.
