From August 2021 I started full-time as the new Professor of Archaeology at Lund University. This offers an exciting opportunity to develop new projects and further (inter)national collaborations. My research interests focus primarily on understanding prehistoric transformations across Northern Eurasia, including Fennoscandia, Siberia, the Russian Far East and Japan. In 2019-20 I held a JSPS Invitational Research Fellowship at Hokkaido University in Japan to research Neolithization processes in Hokkaido and surrounding regions of Northeast Asia. From 2021 I also hold a Professorship at Hokkaido University (Global Station for Indigenous Studies and Cultural Diversity at GI-CoRE). Prior to coming to Lund University I was Director of the interdisciplinary Arctic Centre at the University of Groningen (2013-21). I've also held various academic positions in the UK plus Research Fellowships at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Oslo in 2008-9, and at RIHN, Kyoto, in 2010 and 2011.
