Peter Jordan joined Lund University in 2021 as the new Professor of Archaeology. He is a Principal Investigator on the new ERC Synergy Project ‘FORAGER’ and serves as Research Leader of ‘Surviving the Apocalypse’, a five-year project funded by the Swedish Research Council, which is hosted by CALDERA, the Nordic-Japan Research Programme in Disaster Studies. His overarching research interests focus on understanding human technology, cultural inheritance and social-ecological resilience. He is affiliated with the Global Station for Indigenous Studies and Cultural Diversity (GSI) at Hokkaido University where he held a JSPS Invitational Research Fellowship (2019-2020) to investigate long-term social-ecological interactions across ancient Northeast Asia. In 2024 his research team were awarded the 2024 Ben Cullen Prize from Antiquity Journal for ‘outstanding’ contributions to World Archaeology.
