The Department of Archaeology and Ancient History at Lund University hosted a successful conference on June 4 and 5 entitled “Prehistoric Change versus Persistence in the Peripheries of Scandinavia.” The conference brought together an international and interdisciplinary group of scholars to discuss how mobility and connectivity along the peripheries of Scandinavia shaped the prehistory of the region.

TThe programme interwove perspectives from ancient genetics, linguistics, and archaeology in order to build a better understanding of the dynamics that shaped ancient Scandinavia from the Mesolithic through the Early Iron Age. Conference participants came from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Sápmi. The conference programme can be found below. The conference was funded by generous support from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and the Lennart J. Hägglunds stiftelse and was organized by Mikael Fauvelle, Guus Kroonen, and Christian Horn.
