SAA-Amerind Advanced Seminar in Dragoon

Mikael Fauvelle from the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History at Lund University was invited to organize an SAA-Amerind Advanced Seminar in Dragoon, Arizona, from the 12th to 16th of August.

The title of the seminar was “Modelling Maritime Societies: Mobility and Social Organization”. At the seminar, an international and interdisciplinary group of scholars debated topics related to voyage modelling, maritime risk factors, paleoclimatic modelling, the maritime mode of production, and the social organization of island and coastal societies. The seminar was funded by the Amerind Foundation. In collaboration with the Amerind Foundation and the University of Arizona Press, the topics and themes that were discussed at the seminar will be developed into an edited book on maritime modelling in archaeology and anthropology.
