In Lust We Trust - En kvantitativ studie om risker kring ungdomars sexualvanor

The cases of sexually transmitted diseases and abortions among teenagers in Sweden are increasing. Mainly among youth in the ages 15 to 24 years. Our purpose with this study was to look at the reason for this by answering the question; why do youth expose themselves to the risks associated with unprotected sex? To answer this question we chose to do a quantitative survey by letting students in Lun

Internal and external drivers of Corporate Social Performance in developing countries - A case study of Tetra Pak India

Produktutveckling av tittlåda för Visual Reinforcement Audiometry

Early diagnosis of hearing impairment in children is crucial to enable successful treatment, prevent further deterioration, and ensure proper development of speech and other cognitive abilities. One of the most commonly used methods for hearing assessment in young children is Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA). The primary challenge with VRA is maintaining the child's attention throughout t

The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas: The Potential Impact of a Soft Law Instrument

The current agricultural model is criticized for its imperialist character and focus on productivity, and it affects peasants and small-scale farmers. However, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP), adopted in 2018, could have an impact. The question in focus is: What contribution can the UNDROP, as a soft law instrument, make to

"Riktig" våldtäkt : en analys av våldtäktsmyters förekomst i sexualbrottmål

Rape is a crime that affects thousands of women and men. In Sweden there are approximately 3000 police reports every year and with a large existing number of hidden statistics. Society’s definition of rape is a matter of interpretation, which is influenced by moral views and creates myths of how victim and perpetrator should act for a situation to be classified as a ”real” rape. It is easier to de

Barnsoldatens rättigheter

The child soldier issue is complex in many different ways. Taking into account the different ideas of childhood, the concept of human rights in general and child rights in specific the question about the child soldier and its rights appears to be far from easy to understand. In this thesis I will try to illustrate the complexity by comparing relevant international law applicable to the child sold

On information rates for faster than Nyquist signaling

In this paper we consider the information rates of faster than Nyquist (FTN) signaling schemes. We consider binary, quaternary and octal schemes that use root raised cosine pulses. Lower and upper bounds to the information rates are given. The main result is that the lower bounds are often above the information rates for standard Nyquist signaling schemes. This implies that FTN must be superior to

Dynamics in Random Boolean Networks

Unconventional superconductivity in the nickel chalcogenide superconductor TlNi2Se2

We present the results of a study of the vortex lattice (VL) of the nickel chalcogenide superconductor TlNi2Se2, using small angle neutron scattering. This superconductor has the same crystal symmetry as the iron arsenide materials. Previous work points to it being a two-gap superconductor, with an unknown pairing mechanism. No structural transitions in the vortex lattice are seen in the phase dia

Direct observation of string vibrations in three-dimensional compact QED

Three-dimensional compact U(1) is studied on a 16×32×16 lattice with emphasis on roughening around the crossover region. Configurations including two static charges are generated using the dual formulation of the theory. In this way the flux patterns between the charges are mapped out. Very convincing evidence for roughening is found. In particular we show that the average transverse spread of the

The Euro – What's in it for me? An Economic Analysis of the Swedish Euro Referendum 2003

The Swedish referendum on the euro in September 2003 is an exceptional event for researchers of monetary unions and of European economic integration. Voters chose between maintaining the domestic currency, the krona, and replacing it with the euro, the single currency of the European Union. The referendum revealed significant dividing lines between Yes- and No-voters in areas such as income, educaThe Swedish referendum on the euro in September 2003 is an exceptional event for researchers of monetary unions and of European economic integration. The effect of spatial and temporal planning scale on the trade-off between the financial value and carbon storage in production forests

Background: Increasing carbon stock in standing forests is one of the proposed ways to mitigate climate change. However, in production forests, this typically would lead to reduced harvesting possibilities and thus reduced financial gain for the forest owners. The size of this reduction should depend on the chosen target level of the carbon stock as well as the required speed of accumulation. Furt

Coarse graining biomolecular systems

Proteins in the living cell can interact with a wide variety of solutes, ranging from ions, peptides, other proteins, DNA to membranes. Charged groups play a major role and solution conditions such as pH and ionic strength can modulate the interactions significantly. Describing these systems in a statistical mechanical framework involves thousands of pair-interactions and therefore a certain amoun

Self-Calibrating Superconducting Pair-Breaking Detector

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a self-calibrating detector of Cooper pair depairing in a superconductor based on a mesoscopic superconducting island coupled to normal metal leads. On average, exactly one electron passes through the device per broken Cooper pair, independent of the absorber volume, device, or material parameters. The device operation is explained by a simple analytical m

Role Of The Delta Resonance In The Population Of Excited States In High-Energy Reactions

The 54Fe nucleus was populated from a 56Fe beam with an energy of E=A=500 MeV. The internal decay of the 10+ metastable state via g-ray emission was observed. The structure of this isomeric state has to involve at least four unpaired nucleons, therefore it cannot be populated in a simple two-neutron removal reaction from the ground state of 56Fe, and we suggest that it was populated via the decay
