Genetic substitution of Cdk1 by Cdk2 leads to embryonic lethality and loss of meiotic function of Cdk2
It was believed that Cdk2-cyclin E complexes are essential to drive cells through the G1-S phase transition. However, it was discovered recently that the mitotic kinase Cdk1 (Cdc2a) compensates for the loss of Cdk2. In the present study, we tested whether Cdk2 can compensate for the loss of Cdk1. We generated a knockin mouse in which the Cdk2 cDNA was knocked into the Cdk1 locus (Cdk1Cdk2KI). Subs
Lund critical library studies – a new research group
We argue that there is a need for a more elaborate and sophisticated discussion of if, and then how, the public library fulfils its social role to con- tribute to democracy. Therefore, we have formed the Lund Critical Library Studies group with a shared interest of contributing to a more nuanced and rich discussion about public libraries. This allows us to engage in discussions on how the library
Transitions Towards an Unknown Future: Non-Formal Learning in Transnational Communities for a Sustainable Society
The study makes an inventory of learning opportunities young people were offered in connection with CEI 2016, one of the annual international conferences organized by the NGO named Caretakers of the Environment International (CEI), which year 2016 took place in Aalborg in Denmark. The learning opportunities offered by this transnational learning community are discussed in relation to some essentia
Generation of a human induced pluripotent stem cell line (CSC-40) from a Parkinson's disease patient with a PINK1 p.Q456X mutation
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease with unknown etiology. Here we show the generation of an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line, named CSC-40, from dermal fibroblasts obtained from a 59-year-old male patient with a homozygous p.Q456X mutation in the PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK/PARK6) gene and a confirmed diagnosis of PD, which could be used to model familial PD.

Inflammatory responses after vitrectomy with vitreous substitutes in a rabbit model
Purpose: To investigate the inflammatory response of current and future potential vitreous substitutes in an experimental in vivo vitrectomy model. Methods: Twenty-five gauge pars plana vitrectomy was performed in the right eye of 60 pigmented rabbits, with subsequent injection of 0.5–1.0 ml of Healaflow® (cross-linked hyaluronic acid, n = 12), Bio-Alcamid® (polyalkylimide, n = 8), silicone oil (n
Predictable, collaborative and safe: Healthcare provider experiences of introducing brief admissions by self-referral for self-harming and suicidal persons with a history of extensive psychiatric inpatient care
People with severe self-harming behavior and histories of lengthy psychiatric inpatient admissions can represent a challenge to care providers. This interview-based study illuminates healthcare provider experiences (n = 12) of Brief Admission (BA) among self-harming individuals, with >180 days of psychiatric admission the previous year. Qualitative content analysis revealed that providers experien
Morphological and hemodynamical alterations in brachial artery and cephalic vein. An image-based study for preoperative assessment for vascular access creation
The current study aims to computationally evaluate the effect of right upper arm position on the geometric and hemodynamic characteristics of the brachial artery (BA) and cephalic vein (CV) and, furthermore, to present in detail the methodology to characterise morphological and hemodynamical healthy vessels. Ten healthy volunteers were analysed in two configurations, the supine (S) and the prone (

Constructing social identity through multiple "us and them" : a grounded theory study of how contextual factors are manifested in the lives of residents of a vulnerable district in Brazil
The association between contextual factors and health inequalities is well documented, also in Brazil. However, questions about how contextual factors actually affect health and well-being persist. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore how contextual factors-i.e., social stratification and neighborhood opportunity structures-are manifested in the lives of the residents of a vulnerable d
Identify New Genetic Variants on Chromosome 6 Associated with Mortality after Heart Transplantation
PURPOSE: Graft failure in heart transplant recipients is still the leading cumulative cause of death, rejection related injuries likely being an important contributor. In this study we used a genome-wide association approach using whole-genome data from chromosome 6 to analyze genetic associations with survival after heart transplantation. METHODS: The study included recipient samples from patient
Constructive friction? Exploring patterns between Educational Research and The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
While educational research (EdR) and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) are overlapping fields there remains considerable friction between the two. Shulman, (2011, p. 5), recounts a situation when an EdR colleague accused him “of contributing to the bastardization of the field by encouraging faculty members who were never trained to conduct educational or social science research to en
Derivation of mouse embryonic stem cell lines from tyrosine hydroxylase reporter mice crossed with a human SNCA transgenic mouse model of Parkinson's disease
Mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC) lines were derived by crossing heterozygous transgenic (tg) mice expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) under the control of the rat tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) promoter, with homozygous alpha-synuclein (aSYN) mice expressing human mutant SNCAA53T under the control of the mouse Prion promoter (MoPrP), or wildtype (WT) mice. The expression of GFP and human aSYN wa
Bedömning av neurologisk prognos efter hjärtstopp : Uppdaterade rekommendationer från Svenska HLR-rådets expertgrupp
European Resuscitation Council (ERC) issued updated guidelines for postresuscitation care in 2015. This paper provides updated Swedish recommendations for neurological prognostication of patients remaining unconscious after cardiac arrest (CA). The prognostication should be based on independent methods; clinical and neurophysiological examinations, imaging and biomarkers. It should not be performe
The new EU rules on electronic insolvency registers
This paper deals with those provisions of the new EU Regulation No. 2015/848 on Insolvency Proceedings (Recast) that create a system of national insolvency registers and establish a decentralized system for the interconnection of such registers by means of the European e-Justice Portal.
