The food waste created in Swedish commercial kitchens presents a difficult logistical and environmental problem for local governments. Today all the food waste is collected separately and recycled organically to create biogas, an energy-rich fuel that can be used for both industrial and domestic applications. To mitigate the logistical and sanitary issues associated with large amounts of organic w

Everything we see in nature shows how the environment influences them from both inside and outside, for example, appearance and inner structure. As Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection, specific behavioural and physical adaptations that are the outcome of natural selection. [1] The outer appearance is a visible reflection of how environment changed while the inner structure is the organism

This bachelor thesis was performed at BorgWarner AB in Landskrona. The assignment was to investigate different methods for external measurement of a permanent magnetized DC motor speed in revolutions per minute when you have no access to the rotor. The task was to examine different measurement methods, to produce a finished circuit that converts the signal frequency to rpm and build a complete too

The purpose of this study is to examine the psychological processes that occur in women who are in a psychologically violent relationship and what it is that causes them to leave the relationship. We have selected five autobiographies whose content relates to the purpose of this thesis. Our method is a thematic content analysis used for analyzing texts. The autobiographies that we choose show wome

This study presents a geographic information system–based multiple criteria decision analysis (GIS-MCDA) with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for mapping forest fire risk zones in the Mediterranean region of Evros, Greece, which is close to Alexandroupoli city and two national parks extremely rich in biodiversity, National Park Dadias - Soufliou - Lefkimmis and Evros Delta. A pairwise compari

Herzberg developed a theory to explain which factors were important for employees to experience satisfaction in the workplace. Herzberg’s two-factor theory suggests that high motivation factors, such as responsibility and personal growth lead to greater job satisfaction. Furthermore, the theory suggests that low hygiene factors, such as working conditions and coworker relations can contribute to l

The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether quantum interference between indistinguishable hadronization histories, that is, different ways the string can break while resulting in the same final state, can lead to observable effects in the momentum distributions of particles produced in string fragmentation. In the standard picture, hadronization is treated as a probabilistic process in which

During the last decades there has been a debate concerning the importance to promote integration for people with foreign heritage. The purpose of this study was to examine how school welfare officers in Sweden work with the process of integration among students with foreign heritage. To be more precise, we wanted to find out what role school welfare officers find themselves in concerning the proce

Popular Abstract in English Microorganisms can be used for production of pharmaceutical substances. With the introduction of gene technology, it is possible to transfer information from one organism to the other, thereby making the receiving organism capable of producing substances that it did not so before. This development is very important for e.g. production of therapeutic proteins However, whMicroorganisms can be used for production of pharmaceutical substances. Although Global Digital Elevation Models (GDEMs) are widely used, their spatial error distributions over extensive regions remain insufficiently understood. Using ICESat-2 Reference Control Points (RCPs) (~ 30 points/km²), this paper not only evaluates GDEMs with point-based metrics such as Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Error (ME), but also proposes a novel raster-independent Spatial Erro

We investigate the full pair-distribution function of a homogeneous suspension of spherical active Brownian particles interacting by a Weeks-Chandler-Andersen potential in two spatial dimensions. The full pair-distribution function depends on three coordinates describing the relative positions and orientations of two particles, the Péclet number specifying the activity of the particles, and their

Background: Floods affect over 85 million people every year and are one of the deadliest types of natural disasters. The health effects of floods are partly due to a loss of access to health care. This loss can be limited with proper flood preparedness. Flood preparedness is especially needed at the primary health care (PHC) level. Flood preparedness assessments can be used to identify vulnerable

Objectives: We explored the prevalence of health complaints subjectively associated with static magnetic field (SMF) and acoustic noise exposure among MR radiographers in Sweden, using CT radiographers as a control group. Additionally, we explored radiographers’ use of strategies to mitigate adverse health effects. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was sent to all hospitals with MR units in Sweden

Numerous studies have been carried out in recent years on the use of virtual reality (VR) technologies and environments in education. On the other hand, many researchers have drawn attention to the inadequacy of studies that deal with the education process in virtual reality environments from a broad perspective. In this research, the process of designing, developing, and testing an educational vi

The preparation of ultra-thin PtSn-alloyed layers by molecular beam epitaxy was studied using low-energy electron microscopy (LEEM) and micro-diffraction (μ-LEED). Deposition at a sample temperature of 435 °C initially results in the formation of a Pt3Sn/Pt(111) layer showing a (2 × 2) reconstruction. With continued Sn deposition, a Pt2Sn/Pt(111) layer develops, showing a (3×3)R30° reconstruction.

Increasing concern regarding climate change and environmental sustainability have driven research regarding the development of innovative solutions for CO₂ mitigation and biomass utilization. This thesis explores the catalytic conversion of CO₂ and lignin into valuable chemicals, as a promising approach to achieving carbon neutrality and enhancing the circular economy. The study focused on two key

Non-metropolitan regions are considered more exposed to external shocks than their metropolitan counterparts, while having lower capacities to change. However, there is considerable variation among non-metropolitan regions. We argue that this variation can be captured theoretically by modelling the dynamic interplay between perceived and real opportunity spaces and agency. We empirically analyse r
