My talk is intended to stimulate discussions about methods in radiativetransfer for hydrodynamical model atmospheres of late-type stars. I willpresent a number a number of inherent problems, show how they arepresently tackled (if so), and ask for ideas for more efficient approaches.

Approximate expressions of the first moment of the order statistics of standard extreme value distributions are proposed. We compare different previously given approximations with the exact values. The results show that the approximation given here fits the exact values better than previously given models.

A streamlined strategy was developed to obtain a mixture of thapsigargins from the fruits of Thapsia garganica L. The mixture was resolved by RP-silica gel flash chromatography to provide, after trituration with ether, 0.32% thapsigargin (la) as a white powder. A novel, complex phenylpropanoid (neohelmanthicin D, 2a) was also obtained, and its structure confirmed by semisynthesis.
