Övergripande målet för vår forskning är att undersöka hur miljöfaktorer associerade med utveckling av typ 2-diabetes (T2D) påverkar frisättning av insulin och glukagon från bukspottkörtelns Langerhanska öar. Insulin och glukagon reglerar reciprokt blodets glukosnivåer. Insulin minskar blodglukoskoncentrationer efter måltid, glukagon medverkar till ökade nivåer av glukos vid fasta och ansträngn. The goal of the thesis is to create a method that can be used to smooth data functions so that they are more easily readable and interpretable, through curve fitting. So as to do that, we adapt the smoothing spline method, which uses discrete data, to continuous data.
