Barriers and solutions to reducing the personal carbon footprint 60-70% of the global CO2-emissions are directly related to our lifestyle and changing our behaviour has a huge mitigation potential. However, many find it difficult to change their lifestyle and the factors facilitating personal behavioural change are poorly understood. Recent conceptual studies identify gain, normative and hedonic factors as three categories of motivations of consumer proenvironmental behavior. However, empirical understanding of how these motivations interact and affect proenvironmental behavior is limited. This study is based on a survey of car owners in Sweden (N = 573) and uses structural equation modeling to analyze the data. The empirical

We present and analyze a new approach to improve energy efficiency in cellular IoT devices. The new approach consists of employment of ultra low power wake-up receivers in combination with robust non-coherent modulation. The results show that we can achieve very competitive power consumption, reducing it by up to 50 times, compared to two conventional power saving solutions we use as references. T

Product Service Systems offer companies the possibility to reduce environmental impacts by diminishing resource consumption, raw material extraction and waste generation. The concept focuses on a system of products, services and supporting networks with the aim of transitioning from selling the benefits of a product rather than the actual product. Naturally, incentives are created for companies to

This paper highlights, theoretically and empirically, how development and underdevelopment are closely linked by looking at the global food system, with a special emphasis on the meat-industrial complex. Conceptually, this thesis mobilizes Foster’s theory of metabolic rift, O’Connor’s theory of the second contradiction of capitalism, and Harvey’s “accumulation by dispossession” to account for the

The fashion industry is currently operating at high levels of material throughput leading to global annual emissions reaching a staggering 4 metric gigatons of CO2e. Almost reaching the levels of the entire EU-28 in 2015 of 4.45 metric gigatons. As consumption levels could increase by as much as 63% by 2030 there is urgency to address the situation. The application of Circular Economy (CE) princip

The aim is to investigate the effect of availability and level of detail of data on cost estimates of alcohol consumption. Using the recent Swedish cost of alcohol study as baseline, limitations on data are applied, forming two models. The costs of alcohol in Sweden are re-estimated in the two models and compared to the baseline, to establish the magnitude and direction of the bias resulting from

The sustainable management of the ocean as a global food source has been prominent in recent debates due to the disproportionate rate of human consumption, depletion of fish stocks and shortcomings in conservation efforts. Criticisms from various sectors on the effectiveness of Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMO) in relation to their mandates have prompted performance reviews (PRs)

Abstract Presently we have a record of the highest temperatures ever recorded and the trend is for even higher temperatures. At what rate this trend will continue is chiefly determined by what and how humans choose to consume resources. (IPCC 2001a) A change in behavior is called for, but in order for success we must gain a common understanding that all will benefit if individual action is restrai
