All rapportering görs elektroniskt i EU:s portal Funding & tender opportunities. Du är varmt välkommen att höra av dig med frågor kring projekthantering till oss på Forskningsservice. För dig som vill leta svar själv finns all

Theory of the acoustic force density acting on inhomogeneous fluids

We derive an expression for the acoustic force density acting on an inhomogeneous fluid with a continuous spatial variation in density and compressibility. A key prediction of our theory, validated by confocal imaging in an acoustofluidic microchip, is that inhomogeneous fluid configurations can be stabilized in the presence of destabilizing forces due to gravity or acoustic streaming flows.

Twenty second acoustofluidic whole blood hematocrit assay

This abstract reports a novel acoustofluidic method to measure the hematocrit level of a whole blood sample within 20 seconds. The method is substantially faster than conventional centrifugation methods, has no moving parts and can be fully automated and integrated with further unit operations for analysis of blood samples at the point of care [1].

A 'sustainable' impact on the EU? An analysis of the making of the Fifth Environmental Action Programme

This chapter begins with the assumption that political organisations are stable institutions which contain biases to benefit certain issues and actors in society. The European Union’s Fifth Environmental Action Programme was finally adopted by the Council in February of 1993. The programme is entitled Toward Sustainability and will guide the European Union’s environmental legislation into the next

Very heavy elements in the HgMn star chi Lupi

Abundances for the elements W, Os, and Bi are presented for the HgMn star chi Lupi, based upon GHRS echelle-mode spectra and a synthetic spectrum analysis. The tungsten abundance is consistent with a solar-system value while the osmium and bismuth abundances reflect enhancements. With these new data we are able to quantitatively define an abundance peak within the element range Z = 74 through 83.

How smart are electricity users with ‘Smart Metering’? A Behavioural Economics experiment

The purpose of this paper is to examine how behavioural biases affect consumers’ response to energy-use information provided through smart meters (SM). We take insights from behavioural economics and carry out two real-life experiments with SMs and electricity users. The experiments were conducted in Copenhagen (Denmark) to identify and assess the potential of two economic behavioural biases, sali

Processing and characterization of nanowire arrays for photodetectors

We present a fabrication scheme of contacting arrays of vertically standing nanowires (NW) for LEDs (Duan et al. Nature 409:66–69, 2001), photodetectors (Wang et al. Science (NY) 293:1455–1457, 2001) or solar cell applications (Wallentin et al. Science (NY) 339:1057–1060, 2013). Samples were prepared by depositing Au films using nano-imprint lithography (Ma rtensson et al. Nano Lett 4:699–702, 200

Second-order constraints in dynamic invariant inference

The current generation of dynamic invariant detectors often produce invariants that are inconsistent with program semantics or programmer knowledge. We improve the consistency of dynamically discovered invariants by taking into account higher-level constraints. These constraints encode knowledge about invariants, even when the invariants themselves are unknown. For instance, even though the invari

GHRS spectroscopy of chemically peculiar stars: The chi Lupi Pathfinder Project

The HST has provided visual images of the universe of unprecedented clarity and sensitivity. It is less widely known that the HST/GHRS has provided equally breathtaking views of a different kind Of "universe" - a "spectroscopic universe". Nowhere is this better seen than in the extraordinarily complex and beautiful ultraviolet spectrum of the ultra-sharp-lined, non-magnetic, chemically peculiar (C

Integrating needs assessment within next generation e-learning systems: lessons learnt from a case study

In this paper we outline a method for systematically addressing needs assessment (QUALISEM-PEOPLE), alongside a case study of its use within a medium sized, German company. The method was designed in order to provide guidance in analysing skill and role competences, particularly when e-learning systems are being considered for training purposes. The method proved to be successful within the compan

Land-atmosphere interactions and regional Earth system dynamics due to natural and anthropogenic vegetation changes

Observationer och modelleringsstudier har visat att den globala markytan har genomgått betydande förändringar under de senaste decennierna, drivet av både naturliga och antropogena faktorer, såsom förändringar i ekosystemens produktivitet, bränder och markanvändning. Markytans förändringar kan potentiellt påverka det lokala och regionala klimatet genom förändringar i processer som sker mellan jordObservation and modelling studies have indicated that the global land surfaces have been undergoing significant changes in the past few decades, driven by both natural and anthropogenic factors, such as changes in ecosystem productivity, fire and land use. Land surface changes can potentially influence local and regional climate through land-atmosphere interactions. Continued greenhouse gas emissi
