Övergripande målet för vår forskning är att undersöka hur miljöfaktorer associerade med utveckling av typ 2-diabetes (T2D) påverkar frisättning av insulin och glukagon från bukspottkörtelns Langerhanska öar. Insulin och glukagon reglerar reciprokt blodets glukosnivåer. Insulin minskar blodglukoskoncentrationer efter måltid, glukagon medverkar till ökade nivåer av glukos vid fasta och ansträngn. In the cell, γ-tubulin establishes a cellular network of threads named the γ-string meshwork. However, the functions of this meshwork remain to be determined.
