En mobil GIS (geografiskt informationssystem)applikation skulle kunna vara ett användbart hjälpmedel vid sådant fältarbete och speciellt för att genomföra fältinventering. Applikationen har utvecklats för Örebro kommun och kallas iSurvey.Currently, Swedish municipalities generally use paper maps to conduct field work.
