This paper deals with the design of a nonlinear observer for the inverted pendulum. The observer uses the standard structure of the linear observer with the linear model replaced by a nonlinear model. Nominal observer gains are determined from a linearised model. This model is also used to find a compromise between robustness and performance. The stability of the observer is then discussed and con

Risk and vulnerability management can serve a very important purpose as a decision support tool for investments and planning of electrical distribution systems. In 2006 amendments to the Swedish Electricity Act came into force, stating that every distribution system operator has to, on a yearly basis, perform a risk and vulnerability analysis regarding security of supply to customers. Furthermore,

The genus Nigritella (Orchidaceae-Orchidinae) is a complex of species at four different ploidy levels. Fourteen taxa at species or subspecies level have been distinguished. The triploid N. nigra ssp. nigra is endemic to Scandinavia, whereas the remaining taxa are confined to different mountain regions in Central and Southern Europe. The polyploids are of hybrid origin and have arisen from taxa at

The goal of the presented work is to provide support for software requirements engineering domain experts in modeling combinatorial optimization problems that arise in requirements prioritization and release planning. A Domain-Specific Language (DSL), called reqT/CSP, is presented that integrates constraints modeling with requirements modeling. The DSL is embedded in the object-functional Scala pr

This paper presents some methods of improving the simulation of human movements. Since we are developing a tool for the planning of environments for physically disabled persons, it is important to consider the future user’s abilities in particular. Methods such as the use of human models, acquiring joint ranges and motions (from MacReflex and DataGlove systems), editing postures and motions, setti

This thesis deals with two types of problems occurring in inventory theory; pooling of stock and perishable items. All three papers in this thesis consider inventory distribution systems with continuous review. In Paper I we consider a single-echelon inventory system with two identical locations. Demands are generated by stationary and independent Poisson processes. In this paper, we allow later
