The fatigue behavior of laminated veneer lumber (Douglas-fir) subjected to shearstress has been studied. The static shear strength of specimens, 37 by 102 by 406 mm was established through a three point bending test over a span of 305 mm. Four series of specimens were subjected to a cyclic load history with peak loads ranging from 95 to 80 percent of the static strength. The duration of each load

Acoustic emission is the response to the application of stress. Two sensors were attached to the setup to measure acoustic emission as a voltage. The beams were loaded until rupture in four point bending. Lab VIEW® continuously took readings of load, deflection, acoustic emission, date and time and saved all data on a hard drive.

The report includes a study where stress-laminated and nail-laminated wood decks are compared, with respect to deflection, static and dynamic springiness. The deck is built up of 22 pieces 45 mm wide, 170 mm high and 7000 mm long wood joists. (Swedish).

The report includes description oftwo programs that have been developed for drawing reinforcement in AutoCAD and making reinforcements reports according to Swedish Standard. (Swedish).

Development of concrete formulation reinforced by non-corrosive fibres, to realise thin sections. The mechanical properties were tested in the goal to evaluate an idea of application, which is a prefabricated sandwich-element integrating thermic isolation for external walls.

A study of shear capacity in vertically reinforced masonry beams beeing exposed to a concentrated force. The aim of the design was to get shear failure and thus get information regarding the method of reinforcing. The vertically reinforced beams were compared to a reference beam made of common bricks. The method can be used to bridge larger openings in structural masonry walls.

The purpose is to investigate different ways of stabilizing high-rise buildings in Light-gauge steel framing and enhance the understanding for which design details that restrict the possibility of designing high-rise buildings. The work emphasize the force distribution in the stabilizing structure.

The purpose of the report is to investigate different elimate influences on the mechanical behaviour of wood, both theoretical and experimental. Here hygromechanical behaviour means shrinkage, elastic strain, creep and mechano-sorption. New laboratory equipment was designed and constructed for experiments where specimen were submerged in water. For the experimentsamples of Norwegian spruce (Picea

This study describes a method for measuring and evaluating intemal stresses in wood eaused by elimate variations. The aim of this work is to give elear experimental results of the stresses build up in wood perpendicular to the grain w hen exposed to multiple humidity cyeles. These results can be used by wood researchers in order to calibrate their theoretical models which describe the material beh

This master thesis purpose is to increase the understanding of how the diaphragm walls function. The interest have mainly been focused on how much movement between the inner and outer leaf one can permit A major interest have also been focused on how much interaction between the leafs one can expect.

The effects of four parameters on the cracking of a single leaf masomy facade were studied. The four parameters were, the properties between the masomy and the ground, the ratio between length and width, different values of Y o ungs modulus and the presence of windows and doors. The analysis was carried out in the FE-program Ansys. The present work also includes an experimental study ofthe shear be

The report includes descriptions of methods and programes that can be used to visualise buildings on a PC. These technics have been applied on a 3D-model of one of Volvos factories in Olofström, Sweden. (Swedish)

Concrete slabs were east on different ground materials to investigate frietian between the concrete and the ground. Frietian curves are non-linear and bilinear approximations were used to simplify them. This study shows different methods to create the bilinear approximation. Coefficient of frietian depends upon the normal load and the ground materials.

The system effect of sheathed lumber systems is studied, taking into account the variation of strength within and between members. A computer model is constructed and the influence of different parameters on the system interaction is examined. Experimental tests of representative systems are performed in order to confirm the finite element model. (Swedish)

CmTent methods to design and test vibration of lightweight floor structures are reviewed and investigated. The review includes the relation between measured performance and human response to vibrations. Vibration tests are performed on a lightweight floor structure. The available calculation methods are evaluated against the results from these tests. (Swedish)

The former Swedish building code did not allow designs with wood structure higherthan two floors. In 1994 the code was shifted to a more function based code that approved multi- storey timber frame houses to be built. With the change of the code research started about timber frame buildingsand today the business have passed the pilot-stageand the commercial phase has just started. The Digital prod
