Course
Course 15 credits • ARKN27
The course focuses on the relationship between humans and landscape and includes theoretical and practical elements. The course studies humans' relationship with the surrounding environment from a long-term perspective. Leading theoretical perspectives are discussed based on explicit examples of prehistoric and historical events. For example, students discuss different perspectives on the consequences of environmental changes that have occurred for various reasons and how these have affected societies during different periods.
Students also learn various tools for studying time layers and changes in the environment and landscape, as well as how to plan and carry out landscape analyses in the field. Various analysis methods are presented and used in the practical assignments, from field inventory to digital techniques for inventory and documentation.
