Research

My profile in Lund University research portal

I am an anthropological archaeologist interested in how the movement of peoples, goods, and ideas between regions and across boundaries affects the development of systems of social inequality. I have investigated this question through research on trade and exchange systems in island and coastal societies around the world with a focus on the ancient peoples of Pacific North America. I have directed field projects in both the United States and Mexico and am currently working on a collaborative sourcing study of heterogenous mineral resources from coastal California. You can find my published research in journals including American AnthropologistAmerican Antiquity, and the Journal of Archaeological Science.
