I have studied Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Lund University, and hold a PhD and Docent title from this institution.

As a researcher, I study Greek religion and focus especially on communication between gods and men through gift-giving and naming. I have for example investigated the instrumental role of divine epithets, the flexibility of divine character in Greek polytheism and aspects of dedicatory habits. I also look at human personal names humans, especially theophoric.

I am the Director of the Swedish Institute at Athens since 2017. As such I am responsible for the teaching and archaeological work carried out by the Institute and personally run the Swedish part of the investigations in the ancient city of Hermione. I also run studies regarding the so-called Pireus Lion and the publication of the correspondence of renowned professor Martin P. Nilsson. Since 2015, I run a platform for scholarly discussion of Greek religion, the Athens Greek Religion Seminar.

In the Research Portal you can search and find information about all active researchers, units, publications, projects, infrastructures, and more, to get an overview of Lund University research.
