Självmord ellThe purpose of this essay is primarily to examine how the Swedish criminal law considers the situation where a person persuades another to kill oneself. Furthermore, the essay aims more generally to investigate the legislator ́s ambition about what actions that should be criminalized and why suicide barely is treated in the judicial. Today, suicide or attempted suicide does not constitute a crime

Long-term prediction of prostate cancer diagnosis and death using PSA and obesity related anthropometrics at early middle age : Data from the malmö preventive project

Objectives: To evaluate whether anthropometric parameters add to PSA measurements in middle-aged men for risk assessment of prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis and death. Results: After adjusting for PSA, both BMI and weight were significantly associated with an increased risk of PCa death with the odds of a death corresponding to a 10 kg/m2 or 10 kg increase being 1.58 (95% CI 1.10, 2.28; p = 0.013)

The production of recombinant 6LZE_A and NS2B-NS3 in E. coli

Even though the first coronavirus pandemic was registered in 1965, SARS-CoV-2 was better acknowledged when it caused the worldwide pandemic in 2019 in which millions of individuals lost their lives. Due to its facile way of spreading from one individual to another, the number of infected cases has gone up to more than 750 million to this day. Family formation in the CIS-tem - a reproductive justice approach to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting for trans people in sweden

Less than a decade ago, Swedish law demanded that a person who wanted to change their legal gender had to be without any ability to reproduce. This demand led to many trans people being forcibly sterilized. Even though the demand is now removed from law, lingering effects continues to affect trans people in their reproductive journey. This study examines barriers faced by trans people in three sta

Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur barns relation/anknytning till sin förälder påverkas av atChildren have a basic need of a parent, attachment figure, who is accessible to the child and ensure the child's needs (Bowlby, 1994). When a parent is incarcerated, the relationship between children and parents takes place within a framework of rules and laws designed by society. The aim of this study was to examine how children's relationship/attachment to the parent is affected by the f

Phosphorylation of ERα and HIF-1α in breast cancer with focus on tamoxifen response and links to kinase activation

Anti-oestrogens are commonly used in adjuvant breast cancer treatment and for a long time tamoxifen has been the main endocrine treatment. Patients who are eligibly for endocrine treatment are selected by the tumour-specific expression of oestrogen receptor (ER) and approximately 70 % of all breast cancer patients are classified as ER positive. However, resistance to tamoxifen is common and severa

Environmental barriers, person-environment fit and mortality among community-dwelling very old people

Background: Environmental barriers are associated with disability-related outcomes in older people but little is known of the effect of environmental barriers on mortality. Long-term outcome of chronic hepatitis C infection in a low-prevalence area

BACKGROUND: Although hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is recognized as an important causative factor in the development of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular cancer (HCC), the strength of this correlation has been difficult to confirm in low-prevalence areas. METHODS: Stored serum samples from 987 consecutive (1978-88) patients with chronic liver disease were tested with an enzyme-linked immunoso

Lymph node CEA and MUC2 mRNA as useful predictors of outcome in colorectal cancer

The aim was to explore the utility for staging and prognostic impact of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin 20 (CK20), guanylyl cyclase C (GCC), CUB (complement protein subcomponents C1r/C1s, urchin embryonic growth factor, and bone morphogenic protein 1) containing domain protein 1 (CDCP1) and mucin 2 (MUC2) mRNA levels in mesenteric lymph nodes of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.
