It is described in the preparatory work of the Social Services Act that a reasonable standard of living should be based on the prevailing conditions under which the individual lives. Because there is no specified description of the phrase, this entails interpretability of the phrase and therefore uncertainty about what it infers. The purpose of this study is to analyse the representation of the ph

Overreliance in Automatic Stabilizers? - Sweden’s Fiscal Policy during the Financial Crisis
What was the outcome of Sweden’s fiscal policy between 2009 and 2012 and why was it different from forecasts? Research by the OECD during the financial crisis, used by the Swedish Government to illustrate their fiscal policy, suggested that Sweden would have the biggest stimulus of all OECD countries. However, Sweden’s fiscal policy ended up rather modest. By examining the forecasted fiscal policy
Nu är det dags! En kvalitativ studie om när socialsekreterare institutionsplacerar ungdomar
The purpose of this study was to examine social workers apprehensions about institutional placement of youths and what determines when these proceedings are used. When research not always shows that institutional placements lead to positive changes for youngsters, we wondered how social workers act on their assessment to institutional placement. We wanted to find out if the social workers meet any

An Economic Analysis of Town Planning Institutions
This thesis will look at the profession of Town Planning from an economic perspective utilising New Institutional Economics (NIE) to focus on how different institutions and structures bring about efficiency trade- offs. As planning systems have considerable influence over property rights (the ability to affect one‟s own lands) and over transaction costs by intervening in land markets, planning ins
Avhandlingens syfte är sammanfattningsvis: * Att beskriva de sakkunnigas försök att skapa goda uppväxtvillkor för barn i stadsmiljö, utifrån det jag sammanfattande benämner "de för barnen tänkta perspektivenChildren's conditions in urban environments are an important theme for understanding modern childhood, yet children have rarely been asked about their views of urban childhood conditions. The aim of the dissertation is: To describe the experts' attempts to create good conditions for growing up in an urban environment. This is summed up as "perspectives thought out for the children". To investiga

Controlled-Release Oxycodone vs. Placebo in the Treatment of Chronic Breathlessness—A Multisite Randomized Placebo Controlled Trial
Context: Chronic breathlessness is a clinical syndrome that results in significant distress and disability. Morphine can reduce chronic breathlessness when the contributing etiologies are optimally treated. Objectives: Does oxycodone reduce chronic breathlessness compared with placebo? Methods: A multisite, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-arm, fixed-dose trial of oral contro
Regulating Multiple Externalities: The Case of Nordic Fisheries
Open access is a well-known externality problem in fisheries causing excess capacity and overfishing. Due to global warming, externality problems from CO2 emissions have gained increased interest. With two externality problems, a first-best optimum can be achieved by using two regulatory instruments. However, solving the open-access externality problem also affects CO2 emissions. By using a bio-ec
Allelic variants of streptokinase from Streptococcus pyogenes display functional differences in plasminogen activation.
A common mammalian defense mechanism employed to prevent systemic dissemination of invasive bacteria involves occlusion of local microvasculature and encapsulation of bacteria within fibrin networks. Acquisition of plasmin activity at the bacterial cell surface circumvents this defense mechanism, allowing invasive disease initiation. To facilitate this process, S. pyogenes secretes streptokinase,
Acceptance and Use of Innovative Assistive Technologies among People with Cognitive Impairment and Their Caregivers : A Systematic Review
Cognitive impairments (CI), associated with the consequences of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, are increasingly prevalent among older adults, leading to deterioration in self-care, mobility, and interpersonal relationships among them. Innovative Assistive Technologies (IAT) such as electronic reminders and surveillance systems are considered as increasingly important tools to facilitate
Glacial history and palaeo-environmental change of southern Taimyr Peninsula, Arctic Russia, during the Middle and Late Pleistocene
We here reconstruct a glacial and climate history of arctic NW Siberia for the last ~600,000 years, based on the stratigraphy and chronology of 35 studied river sections on the southern Taimyr Peninsula. From this stratigraphic mosaic we have identified four glacial events, marked by tills/glaciotectonics, which are intercalated with mainly marine sediments deposited in proglacial settings during

How predictions of economic behavior are affected by the socio-economic status of the target person
We investigate how the stereotype of the poor (vs. middle class) influences behavioral predictions. In Study 1 participants made predictions regarding another person’s economic behavior in scenarios pertaining to rate of time preferences (loss, gain of smaller and larger amount). We find that participants, across scenarios, expect individuals with low SES to show more short-sightedness, i.e., steeWe investigate how the stereotype of the poor (vs. middle class) influences behavioral predictions. Co-constructing Contextual Theory : An Experience within IS Education Domain
Reviewing the information systems (IS) literature shows the prevalence of studies claiming to exploit the grounded theory (GT) method. However, most of these studies follow an objectivist approach to GT. This manuscript addresses another recognized yet rarely used GT approach in IS: constructivist. The importance of IS constructivist research is briefly explained. This is followed with a recapitul
