We are located at LUX, Helgonavägen 3, where we conduct research and teaching in four subject areas:
In the 2016 QS World University Rankings by Subject, our department was in 38th place, making us the currently highest ranked archaeology department in Scandinavia.
Students who come to us want to learn more about the past and how human beings lived and worked during various periods of history. They are introduced to the preserved archaeological finds which archaeologists must learn to analyse and interpret in order to approach the past. We offer many different courses and we are careful to ensure that they are also practically oriented. This means that our students get to join excursions around Skåne, that they encounter and work with archaeological finds and get to participate in excavations.
We collaborate closely with the Historical Museum and Kulturen in Lund, and we regularly travel to the major museums in Copenhagen for teaching purposes.
